Very good question! Patina means that it will change color and shade over time as the product is exposed to touch. Only handles in untreated brass will get patinated as they have not received any surface treatment and are made of raw brass. Many people choose a handle in untreated brass because they want the handle to be patinated and thus feel more alive as it changes color over time.
