What kind of leather do you use on your leather handles?

Hello,

I am interested in possibly changing handles in my kitchen and am interested in some of your leather handles and wonder what kind of leather you use on the products? It says that it is Swedish natural tanned leather, but what exactly does that mean?

Thanks for the help!

  • Hi Amy,

Many of our leather handles have Swedish natural tanned leather from Tärnsjö Tannery, which means that the leather is completely free of chrome and the vegetable tanned leather is made from the finest skins. For thousands of years, humans have been tanning leather with tannic acid from vegetable sources such as oak and mimosa bark. Tärnsjö Tannery still uses these environmentally sustainable methods today to ensure that their leather has a natural surface that ages beautifully with a patina that develops over time.

We also have a guide where we tell you more about Tärnsjö Tannery and their leather and go through care advice for leather handles and leather knobs. The guide is called "Instructions for caring for leather handles and knobs".
